Dennis Nelligan has been active in SAIT activities since his enrollment in 1975. He joined the intercollegiate wrestling team where he finished with a bronze medal in his weight class. For the 1976-77 and 1977-78 academic years, he continued to wrestle and won a personal silver and bronze medals respectively, which was a part of three consecutive ACAC wrestling team championships. In addition, he participated in intramurals and won the Intramural Athlete of the year in 1977-78.
In addition to wrestling and academic priorities, Dennis was also elected as the President of the SAIT Students' Association for both the 1976-77 and 1977-78 Academic years. While he was President, he was awarded with the highest recognition award - The Gold "T" Award.
Upon graduation from the Aeronautical Engineering program, he volunteered to sit on the SAIT Alumni Association Board, where he has remained for the past six years. This volunteer action won him special recognition as a 1991 Gold Service Award winner presented by the Alumni Association.
It is with great honour that the Trojan Athletic Foundation honours a former athlete that continues to give.
