The SAIT Trojans operate under three pillars: Athletic Excellence, Academic Success, and Community Citizenship. Under the third pillar, Community Citizenship, athletes are encouraged to be positive ambassadors in the community.
The Trojan Outreach Program (TOP), founded in 2003-04, is one of many avenues for the Trojans to do this.
In addition to TOP, SAIT Trojans athletes have also participated in a variety of other community-related events including: the Calgary Herald Raise-A-Reader Campaign for Literacy; Calgary Flames Women at Centre Ice Program; Organizing events to raise money for the SAIT Students Emergency Fund; Collecting food for the local food bank; and much more.
In both 2004-05 and 2006-07, the SAIT Trojans were honored with the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) Community Citizenship Award for their work in the community and the TOP program.
